My Kite Flying Page

 

My kite What better thing to do when it is too windy to jump, than to fly a large kite. This is 10 feet wide and pulls like a small car. With a group of friends we took it in turns to "ski" up this beach. Excellent fun. I have also been seen being dragged face down across a large field by this kite. Not a trip for the faint hearted!

I also have a pair of stunt diamonds which fly very well together, these are based on the popular Peter Powell kites, with a few modifications.

Sadly none of the kites I have are suitable for supporting aerials, maybe I will try that next.
This is a picture of me (taken by my brother) showing the power of the kites... Although not clear in the thumb sketch, I was about 4 or 5 feet off the ground and traveling forward at quite a rate. As can be seen from the background, this was one of the days that it was too windy to jump at Peterlee!

Needless to say Roger also had a go at this and the disappointment at not being able to skydive was soon forgotten.
