HF Radio

The club possesses a range of HF transmitters, some old and some new. In constant use is an FT101Z which still performs brilliantly and is still a favorite with the “more experienced” (older?) members of the club. We also own an FT 847 “all dancing rig, and are still discovering what all the buttons do!

Aerial wise, at present we use a 3 element beam mounted above the shack ,which itself is some 160 ft above ground, so we have a very good take off. We also own a trailer mounted 40 ft pneumatic mast and 3 element beam which presents quite an imposing site at the fete days we attend.

We recently erected the beam in place of a cobweb aerial.

Below are a couple of pictures of the cobweb and the beam on the trailer.
