interests

My only active hobby now is Amateur Radio having recently retired from the voluntary post of Company Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the Yorkshire Air Museum visit their very informative Web Site: Elvington, near York and find out about the Premier Air Museum in the North of England and the annual Elvington Air Spectacular which is held on the three days of the Summer Bank Holiday to raise money for the Museum and the Royal Air Forces Association.

I used to be very keen on gliding and was a member of the London Gliding Club. I recently had an aerotow to 2000 feet in a club glider at the York Gliding Centre. The last aerotows I had were in 1945 at RAF Elsham-on-the-Wolds in a Horsa Troop Carrying Glider towed by a Handley Page Halifax Bomber !!

old freinds

I am particularly interested in hearing from old friends and comrades who served in the Air Training Corps during the Second World War, were Royal Navy "Y" Scheme volunteers for the Fleet Air Arm , did their Pilot Aptitude Tests at RAF Bridgnorth in 1946 and became Rating Pilots in the Fleet Air Arm. I am in touch with a few of them, particularly our most illustrious colleague Captain Fred Hefford, OBE, DSC, AFC, RN (Rtd).

Officers in the Training Branch of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve with whom I served in the 1949 - 1971 period would be particularly welcome to contact me.

Old friends and neighbours in Pinner, Tilehurst, Goring-by-Sea, Ravenshead, Wetherby, Tockwith and Kirk Hammerton would similarly be welcome to get in touch.

CAN YOU HELP ME FIND MY LONG-LOST COUSINS?

I am anxious to contact Carl, Bernita and Olga ELLERTON who lived in the Eldwick, Bingley, West Yorkshire area during the 1940's and 1950's.

Their father was my uncle - Bernard Ellerton who served in the National Fire Service in the Bingley area during the War.

If anyone can give me a lead as to their present whereabouts I would be very pleased to hear from you.
