Hello, welcome to the g0rek page which I hope you find to be
of some interest.
Born in Doncaster in 1965 the son of a lorry driver I have always had an interest in communications.
At the age of 12 my father introduced me to c.b. radio which he used as a truck driver and my enthusiasm for radio was fired. From there I discovered 11m ssb and was instantly addicted. Whilst operating 11m and working about 200 countries through 2 solar cycles I quickly realised that amateur radio was the way to go.
In 1991 I passed both the RAE and 12wpm morse test to become an `A' license holder and currently operate from Armthorpe , near Doncaster in the north of England where I live with my wife Lesley and three children.
My main interests currently are DXing 10m and aerial design and construction and I have recently installed a homebrew 5 element cubical quad of which I intend to include photographs at a later date. I am also a member of the Doncaster DX Wafflers Net. who are an informal group of friends who meet on 10m (usually 28.475) The following are callsigns also in the group.
