Welcome to the bit About Me

Well what can I say?
I was born in South Wales on the 9th June 1970. I got my first ham callsign at the age of 14 years - GW1MNQ.
University soon happened and I studied in Brighton for a degree in software engineering. During my 1st years summer vacation I was lucky enough to meet with a friend of a friend in Swansea who was willing to teach me CW. Unfortunately he is now a silent key - God bless you Bill. I saw this poor chap every day for about 3 months and he drilled the Morse into me. I then sat my test and passed - hence the "A" class call since 1989.
I then took my first job in Cheltenham in 1990, but soon got bored and moved on. I then took a role with a Software organisation in Derby where I still am today.
I moved to Derby in 1993 and then eventually moved a bit further north out of the "big city" into Belper in 2006.

I enjoy ham radio a great deal and am mainly active on HF with the digital modes; I also do a great deal of "homebrewing".

I hold an EMC co-ordinator role with the RSGB in region 13, you can find out more about that here http://www.rsgb.org/emc/

Heres the obligatory photograph (yuck):
