Not a great deal to say, really.

I’ve held a call sign since 1988. I enjoy many aspects of the hobby, including construction (simple & copied designs), antenna experimentation and rag chewing on both HF & VHF when time permits.

This is one of my HF rigs. For those who slavishly buy the everyday radios, this is a Ten Tec Century22, a direct conversion, 20w output CW only radio. I can honestly say it’s so easy to operate – while the “all singing all dancing” rigs are giving the operator a light show, I believe I’m quietly working the world!

This is my VHF 2 Metre Rig. Once again it’s not from the usual manufacturers, but a now defunct UK supplier, Navico. It has excellent filtering – 12.5Kc even in 1989! Repeater operation (split/toneburst) is automatically selected when a repeater channel is selected. Additionally when travelling abroad, the channel selectors can be adapted to the French system in a couple of clicks.

I’ve not included a photo – my friends will tell you why!  Here’s a cartoon someone drew of me – it also gives more than a clue to my profession…
