.

Since the original twometrecw reflector was founded in 2001 we have had a few changes and under the banner of VHF-CW, now renamed VivatMorse, we supported  not only CW on all VHF bands up but indeed all ham bands.  The topics being posted were diverse and very interesting whilst at the same time a core of members were supporting the 2m band and making skeds. The current membership of VivatMorse is about 140 of which a number are outside Europe, including the USA and one or two prime DX locations!.

After the Announcement on 26th July 2003 that the morse requirement had ceased in the UK,  I immediately set up another mailing list called VivatMorse designed to discuss ways to ensure the continuation of morse code but interest fell sharply once we all realised that the No Code Licence was here to stay and that we could do nothing to stop it.  We only ever reached 18 members anyway so I decided to poll the members on the future of the list and as a result VivatMorse was closed and the members who were not already members there were exported to VHF-CW which became an all band general CW support group with particular reference to the VHF bands but where discussion on anything morse code related was encouraged.

As I still held the Vivat Morse name I decided to rename VHF-CW as Vivat Morse because I just thought it was more apt when our main remit is supporting morse code but at the same time I reinstated the old twometrecw group for dedicated 2m CW operators who want to make skeds etc. However VivatMorse will continue to have a special regard for the VHF Bands. The bottom line is to support and promote morse code on the bands and encourage newcomers to amateur radio to learn morse and use CW as well as adding our support to that of others.  I have since decided to merge twometrecw back into VivatMorse as there was little activity and I feel it is in the interests of the hobby and CW in particular to have just one CW reflector.

I am very keen that we do what we can to support CW and to encourage newcomers to the mode on all bands as well as giving support to those much neglected VHF bands, namely the two metre band and the four metre band,  but our main purpose is to protect, support, nurture and where possible use CW whatever the band.

I am committed to protecting the privacy and security of all members as well as doing my best to keep spammers off the Reflector and I have set the options so that any attachments will be stripped from with posts and only moderators can upload files but members may ask for relevant files to be uploaded on their behalf.  As we only have 20MB file space photos are not permitted unless of a very special significance and relevant to the interests of the reflector but you will need to ask the Moderator to upload them for you..

Prospective members of the Reflector should ideally be  Radio Amateurs including lapsed,  SWLs or learners but we also welcome commercial and military radio ops who are not radio amateurs.  Each application for membership needs to be approved by a moderator and this will be done immediately if you are already known to us  If your status is not obvious from your email address or Yahoo ID please send me an email when you apply, giving your callsign or other relevant information and you will then be approved.   Should you encounter any problems or technical difficulties when subscribing to or using any of the Reflectors please email me describing the problem so I can see what I can do to remedy it for you.
