I've always been interested in computers and back in the mid 80's I used to type program listings into our (then) ATARI 800 XL, my young Nephew then had great fun playing the game I had just typed in (after Peter had de-bugged it of course!). This gave me tremendous joy.
I first took an interest in Amateur Radio when the MS had settled down a bit. It was a good way that Peter and I could keep in touch whilst he was out in the car (mobile). Over the years we have both made some very good friends via radio. Sadly though, due to the MS causing problems with my speech, I very rarely use the radio. I'm glad I have e-mail.
Because of my bad eyesight I have a large monitor with low resolution. This allows me to see things better although it's still a struggle at times as everything keeps jumping about! I am slowly learning to use a Speech Recognition System called 'Dragon Dictate'. It's very good but takes away a lot of my energy just dictating a couple of short paragraphs.
I must just mention our cat - Cuddles - in the photo with me. We got her about 12 years ago from a local cat rescue centre in Norfolk. She has been a great help and comfort to me.
Whilst I would like to hear from you via e-mail I can't guarantee I'll be very quick in replying, so please be patient. Hello, I'm Elaine Hunter, my 'ham' call is G1WOQ. I'm 'younger than Peter' but also come from South East London (Forest Hill). As you can see from the photographs above I 'live' in a battery powered wheelchair. Early in 1986 - just two years after Peter and I were married - I was diagnosed with having Multiple Sclerosis (MS). It hit me really bad at first and I became totally bed bound. After a while though I seemed to have a couple of short remissions and managed to walk very short distances with a 'zimmer frame!' I haven't had any remissions since though and I have been told I have progressive MS. I don't have any use of my legs or arms now, and about one year ago I was registered blind although I can still see outlines and colours.

As soon as we can we'll add some more (up-to-date) photographs, so please bookmark this page, or add it to your favourites list, and come back again soon.
