Please note, I am not an Argo user or expert. These notes were compiled to quickly resolve a set up issue for a friend and may contain some errors and omissions. If anyone wants to send me a revised set of notes or a better guide then I'd very much appreciate it since I don't really have much time. Argo 1.43 (1) Use Speed SLOW / QRSS 3 (This should make the window time 546 seconds long, but an upload interval of 600 seconds). [Needs further investigation] (2) Use CAPTURE SETUP menu to select file type. Best to use jpg and moderate quality to preserve detail. Auto start capture needs to be enabled. (3) The SELECT PREFIX can be confusing. Actually it first sets the DIRECTORY for the picture file. Then it enables a second window that wants you to enter a PREFIX. This is what you want the filename to be called e.g mygrab BUT NOTE DO NOT TRY TO ADD .jpg to the name. Argo does this according the filetype settings anyway. If you try to add it then you end up with mygrab.jpg.jpg which prevents the correct downloading to work. (4) The object of the excercise to always have the same filename uploaded each time so that the URL remains the same. It cannot have a sequence number or a time stamp or compendium downloaders will fail. (5) Ensure that your ftp settings are correct. Use the FTP UPLOAD menu to set login details. (6) You can widen or narrow the grabber bandwidth by using SHIFT + and CAPSLOCK - keys (plus and minus). (7) A mouse click on the grabber window sets up whether it scrolls vertical or horizontal. (Horizontal) (8) The beat note offset is up to your preference. For example using USB, set the receiver to be 1KHz lower than the centre of the QRSS band. QRSS activity generally takes place in 200Hz segment below WSPR. See Knights QRSS Wiki pages. YOU CAN ALSO ENTER AN OFFSET MINUS THE BFO OFFSET SO THAT THE ACTUAL RF FREQUENCY IS CORRECTLY DISPLAYED. Use SETUP >> CALIBRATION, enter RF freq minus the BFO offset in Hz. (9) Ensure USER TICKS are set to 60 seconds to annotate the time on the bottom of the grab. Use UTC time settings for display. (10)Set up the grabber to display your callsign / QTH and band. (11)Save the settings (option in the main drop down menu). (12)Quit Argo and restart. Verify that it is automatically capturing and saving the picture file OK. Changes made only take effect after a restart (mostly). At last, it should work. When you run Argo, you need to tart the grab at the right point in time. So you press the ESC key to start it at a 10 min interval. Wait until you are either at a 00/10/20/30/40/50 mins past the hour and press the key. That will make it automatically refresh at 10 mins.
