PacketCluster Progress
by Charlie, NC1N
The PacketCluster committee has a lot of progress to report this month!
We have selected a frequency for the node, 145.61 MHz., and the crystals are on order. We expect to have them by the end of May. We have a temporary beacon on the air, using the W1FY callsign. As of this writing, the beacon is in Framingham (the node's final home will be in Hopkinton).
The computer has been configured and is ready to go. We will be running a 120 MHz Pentium clone, thanks to a generous donation from Dennis, NB1B. We have the software in hand and we'll be loading it in May, as well as integrating the computer and TNCs.
PacketCluster information will be made available on the FARA web page in June.
