VE test session
November 21, 2013

The Emporia Amateur Radio Society is conducting a VE testing session on Sept. 21, 2013.
It will be held at the Emporia State University Science Hall.  There will NOT be a Ham Cram for this session.  See the map below the Ham Cram information for directions to the location.  Testing will start at 7PM.    You must have a government issued photo ID or you will not be allowed to take the test.  You also must supply your social security number unless you have already obtained an FRN number from the FCC.

Important note!

HamCram"s are not designed to be the only training you need to pass the license tests.  You are expected to do some studying before the HamCram.  It is designed as a refresher to help you just before the test session.  Here are some links to free on line sources to help you study for the exam.

This is a nice set of videos that explain the different facets of the Technician test:

Here you will find a list of several on line resources for Technician class licenses, including on line practice tests.

I personally recommend the KB6NU No Nonsense Study Guide.
You can find the KB6NU No-Nonsense Study Guide online at http://www.kb6nu.com/tech-manual/. There is a FREE PDF version and links to inexpensive e-book versions for the Amazon Kindle and B&N Nook as well as printed versions.

Here is a site for practice tests and study tools.  You have to sign up to use the site, but it is free.  A nice feature is that each study session includes all questions from the question pool in random order -- but, questions that you have missed in previous sessions will always be given to you again before questions that you answered correctly.  This site provides study and practice tests for Technician, General and Extra class licenses: https://hamstudy.org/

The VE test will be held at Emporia State University in the Science Hall, Room 156.  Refer to the maps below for guidence to the ESU Science Hall.  Enter from the North entrance, which is a ramp, and is handicaped acessable.  There will be signs posted in the hallway to direct you to the rooms.

Please contact Tim East, KØEMP
if you wish to attend the HamCram. Walk-ins will be accepted, but we prefer to have you let us know in advance.
