MINUTES OF THE E.K.A.R.C.  Oct 9th, 2010

Held at VE7CRJ’s  shop. 4 members present after the required wait for a quorum to open the  meeting.

MOTION: Adopt the minutes of the previous meeting as circulated.

OLD BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:

Ø  The equipment on Morrissey ridge was moved from Shaw’s building and towers to another building at the same site owned by Kootenay communications and Sparwood communications

Ø  Our equipment on Sparwood ridge is also on Shaw’s site and may have to be moved or pay rental.

Ø  $500 was received, and deposited to general revenue, from KIOTAC for our parking lot supervision work at this year’s event.

$5000.00 was moved from ING savings to a 21 month term deposit with Kootenay Savings Credit Union at 2.5% interest.

NEW BUSINESS:

Ø  VE7LOC requires our support to continue as our club examiner and needs to have a letter sent to RAC to have his licence renewed. Moved by VE7CRJ  seconded by VE7NEK that a letter be sent to RAC to that effect.

Ø  West Kootenay club has been up to Slocan ridge and did some maintenance but link is still not working reliably.

Ø  The solar panels will be changed out this week at Spillamachine and if time permits Creston repeater will be worked on.

Ø  Maintenance work on Sparwood repeater site required changing out a component but is working fine now.

Ø  The installation in Nanton still has some problems with their repeater controller so we are unable to link to them and further into Alberta because of these problems.

Ø  We have an emergency preparedness exercise scheduled for Oct 18 at Fernie and will have a number of volunteers participating.
