"We Love You Mom"

Doris passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on January 7th, 2003 at the Avalon Nursing Home in New Castle, where she has been staying since developing Alzheimer's.  She also suffered for a long time with heart problems.  She was the wife of Cy Klingensmith, KC3O. Together they helped form the ECARA.  They were two of the founding members when the club was formed in August of 1997.  Doris had no desire to get her license, but she supported the club in so many other ways.  Before her health slowed her down, she hosted the club with Cy at their home many times for picnics, meetings and Field Day.  She contributed to bake sales and made crafts to sell.  Most of all, she contributed her wisdom and love.  Doris had four children, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.  Her son, Jim, N3ZJM, and his wife, Carol, N3ZLF, are active members of our club.  

Doris was, and always will be, the club's "Mom," and those of us who knew her well will dearly miss her and cherish her memory.
