"We'll miss you Dad"

Cy Klingensmith passed away on March 11th, 2004 at the age of 88. He had been in and out of the hospital for congestive heart failure. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Doris, who passed away in January of 2003. He had a daughter and three sons, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. That's not counting all the scores of others who knew his as "Dad" or "Grandpa."
Cy was a charter member and one of the founders of the ECARA in 1997. He was dedicated to making us a family oriented club and loved having everyone come to his home in New Castle, PA for picnics, bonfires, etc. We held many meetings there when the weather permitted, and it was our original Field Day site. He and Doris would sit on the glider under the "green roof" on their patio and visit with anyone who would come and spend some time with them. They loved the children, and there was always one on their laps or riding with Cy on his riding mower. Cy began in 1997 as a Novice, but before two years were out he had gone all the way to get his Amateur Extra license. He liked working HF, and he also kept in touch with friends from his CB radio days. There were four generations of Klingensmiths in our club. Cy was the oldest, followed by his son Jim (N3ZJM) our current Vice President, Jim's son Tim, and finally Tim's son, Timmy.
Cy will be greatly missed by all who have known him, and he
leaves a wonderful legacy for all ECARA members in the years to come.
