The ECARA Executive Board meets the first Sunday of each month at the Tree of Life Wellness Center in Ewing Park.  The meetings are open, however any business you wish to present must be taken to one of our member representatives who will introduce any new business to the Board.  The meetings for the year 2008 will continue to be in conjunction with the regular meetings.  If there are any business matters that must be completed by the Eboard, a meeting will be called following the regular meeting.  The regular meetings begin at 7:00 PM (see schedule above.):

LICENSE CLASSES

Classes are currently being offered for the Technician and General license class. Upgrade classes will also be offered as the need demands. The classes will include theory as well as 5 wpm code.   Registration is mandatory due to lack of students.  When there are enough strudents, specific classes will be held, until then they will be as needed.   Please bring plenty of paper and (preferably) pencils. No charge is made for these classes other than the study material required. Testing is available bi-monthly.  Please see the Test Info page for more information and testing dates.

FIELD DAY

Field Day is traditionally held the last weekend in June.   The three day weekend starts off with setting up., and a terrific pot luck dinner.    Then comes the 24 hours of continuous contesting on a variety of frequencies and modes. It's great fun and good emergency operating practice since all of the equipment is run on generators.  . Visitors are welcome at the Field Day site.  NOTICE:  The site for our Field Day activities is at the EmComm Center on Mosser drive in New Castle.    We hope you will join us there this year.

ELLWOOD CITY 4TH OF JULY ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL

The city of Ellwood puts on this festival each year over the 4th of July weekend.  Even though we're all pretty tired from Field Day, the ECARA has a food booth at the festival and an Amateur Radio Demonstration Booth to demonstrate what the hobby is all about.  Our food booth features hot dogs and Red Hot Chili, along with fries and meatball sandwiches.  This is a three day affair lasting from around 8:00 am to approximately 10:00 pm.  The finale is a fireworks display on the last night of the festival.  The Festival is held at Ewing Park, just outside of Ellwood City.  As our major fundraiser of the year, this is another event that we look forward to each year.

ECARA CHRISTMAS PARTY

Every December the club has its annual Christmas party.  Last year it was held at the Tree of Life Wellness Center in Ewing Park.  The Social Committee did a fantastic job of decorating, and everyone contributed food to compliment the ham that the club provided. There are door prizes given away, and other surprises.  One of the highlights of the evening is the awarding of the Male and Female "Ham of the Year awards".
