E.C.A.R.A.
The Ellwood City Amateur Radio Association was founded in August of 1997. Since then the club has grown and our members have dedicated themselves to the goals of promoting Amateur Radio and serving our community in any way possible. We believe that family and community are important to all of us. We hold classes to help individuals achieve their Amateur Radio licenses or to upgrade the licenses they already have. We hold classes at various times on other subjects such as computers, antennas, electronics, and other technical subjects. We also will be teaching the EmComm Level I Certification class and also giving the final exam at our VE test sessions for those who studied the course on their own. There is no charge for these classes (except the EmComm class). We have worked very hard to install emergency services in our club and in our community through Amateur Radio communications. Many of our members belong to Lawrence County ARES and are SKYWARN Spotters registered with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh. Several of our members are also members of United Valley REACT. We enjoy working with other clubs in our area and keeping up good relations with them. We feel that Amateur Radio involves cooperation and teamwork rather than competition. Our members keep up to date on what is happening in our club through this web site as well as our newsletter, the "ELLWOOD ECHO".
Much has been accomplished through the hard work and dedication of its members since the club started. What else develops in the future is limited only by interest and participation.
Please visit our web pages and learn more about our activities. While you're here, please sign our guest book and let us know what you think. If Amateur Radio is new to you and you would like to know more, just send us an e-mail and we would be glad to give you all the information you need to get started. We have members ranging in age from 7to 87! So age is no limit. If you can't make it to classes, etc. because of work schedules or a handicap, please let us know. We will try to find ways to work around it and help you all we can. Thanks for visiting us, and please come again soon.
