So I thought I would send out this post to everybody and maybe it will be useful to somebody. I am the keeper of HamSoft the largest collection of Ham SW for Mac I have ever seen. If you would like a listing pls post me. So on the the TNCs.. First off my cable description is based on looking at the MINI DIN 8 on the mac as viewed facing the rear of your mac. | 8 7 6 8(RXD+) 7(GPi) 6(TXD-) 5 4 3 5(RXD-) 4(GND) 3(TXD+) 2 1 2(HSKi) 1(HSKo) | | PART 1 Hooking a Baycom Modem to a Machintosh using Softkiss 1.8 Baycom DB9 DB25 MacPin/Name TXD 3 2 3/TXD+ RTS 7 4 1/HSKo CTS 8 5 5/RXD- GND 5 7 4/GND DTR 4 20 6/TXD- Remember ! The Mac Pin 8 (RXD+) must be connected to gnd (Mac Pin 4). If the cable you are using has 2(HSKi) or 7(GPi), these wires should be connected to ground (Mac Pin 4) as well. If the cable has an unsheilded wire for the earth ground, then connect this to the signal ground. (Mac Pin 4) The BAYCOM TXD is used to draw power from the host. Mac TXD+ is transmit data. Softkiss sends continuous data so that the baycom has power. Baycom RTS is used to key the transmitter. Baycom DTR is the data out of the mac into the baycom. Baycom CTS is data out of the modem into the mac. I have used baycoms with Mac SW like Macratt or Savant, and I have used Baycoms on a Mac emulating a PC running GP & SP. (There you need TFPCX) PART 2 Hooking up a "Normal" TNC to your Mac (PK88 etc) DB25 MacPin/Name 2 3/TXD+ 5 2/HSKi 3 5/RXD- 7 4/GND If you need any more help pls contact my & 73...Lawrence da1la@db0gv or email tfg091@email.mot.com ============ FIN MSG# 224978 ============
