Hello, my name is Eddie. My interest in radio started with Short Wave Listening. My introduction to two way radio was through my cousins who gave me their walkie talkie when they migrated to the United States. Since the walkie talkie was on a Citizen’s Band frequency, I was able to talk with CB’ers. I got my own CB and joined the Special Forces Signal Communications. Our Club President was a Ham Radio Operator, DU1UJ; and he became my Elmer. In high school, I joined the school's Electronics Club. I became the President of this club and we had fun doing some simple projects. My friends in school were into 2 meters. So eventually, I joined them in the Ham Radio World. When I studied in the United States, I got a reciprocal permit. I decided to take their FCC exam and join the ARRL. I was one of the radio volunteers for the Walk for Hunger organized by Project Bread. When I returned to the Philippines, I renewed my ties with the amateur community and re-activated my membership with PARL and PARA. I was elected president of PARL in 2003 and President of PARA for 2006. My friends and I organized the Six Meter, Satellite and SSTV Society of the Philippines, Inc. (DX1HBC). I am the founding President of this club. |
I met up with some local hams on a recent visit to Italy!
