5H1HS on Zanzibar (2005)
After a short flight from the Kilimanjaro Airport to Zanzibar we landed at noon.
There we met our wives, they flew from Berlin to Zanzibar at the same day.
First day I erected only the antenna and did a few QSO's,
because I was very tired from the Kilimanjaro tour and our wives wanted to hear
some stories about it.
I used two different dipoles, a HyGain from 80 m to 10 m and a DX-Wire from 40 m - 15 m.
First time I used MixW for logging and digital modes. Its a very easy and comfortable program.
The other parts of the setup were Yaesu FT-897, MFJ-945E, RFT-Key and a Notebook.
Despite of wrong conditions I had many fun with the radio. During the local sunrise I had very good openings on 40 m with America. With more discipline it would be possible to
make more QSO's on 80 m.
