At 11:00 UTC I had my first QSO with UT5SI on 24 MHz. The conditions during our stay changed permanently. My indicator for this, was the daily meeting with my father-in-law (DL3BRE). The dipole was exact tuned for the 80 meters band, but only one night I got some stations in the log. On 160 meters I heard nothing. Many fun I had with RTTY QSO's. The program MMTTY from Mako (JE3HHT) is very practicable. Thanks Mako.
Until the 22nd of December I got 160 written inquiries for QSL. Some words about QSL - I answer all QSO's with a QSL card via the DARC bureau. If anybody wants to have the QSL card direct, please an envelope and enough portage. That means for Europe 1 USD and outside Europe 2 USD or one IRC. No old stamps please - because we have now the currency "Euro" in Germany and mostly I got stamps with "German Mark". I can do nothing with Italian Lira, Ukrain Kupon ???, Rubel, old german stamps, IRC without signature etc.
The most QSO's (7) I did with John (N8DX) in Ohio. Different from 1997 I got more asian (HL,YB, BY) and more VK/ZL radio amateurs in my log, because the direction and height of the dipole was better. A highlight was a very fine CW-QSO with ZK1AKX on 18 MHz at the last day. The last QSO was with Karl (SM3AHM) on 21 MHz on the 21st of October at 05:58 UTC.
