Measurement results

Here you can see the results of my measurements. As you can see, I have fixed the MP1 at the heater. I guess that only a location in a Faraday cage could be worse for radiation. However, that is what I have available. I know some hams that try to tune a short wire on each band with theire antenna tuner and I think that my MP1 runs at least as good as the tuned wire (depending on the length). I was asked about the radiation efficiency of the MP1. That question is hard to answer since I have never measured it. I would say that the difference to a dipole is not that big on 10m and 12m because the length is almost equal. At 20m seemed the signals to be about 3 to 6dB less than with a dipole. Additionally there might be some loss coming from the resistance on the conncetion from the coil.

Well, the reflection is of course not everything that you can measure. There is so much more point of interest. A good match does not mean that the antenna is radiating good. These measurement result just show what can be possible with such a small antenna without an antenna tuner. A good location and good ground could improve the whole performance so much.
