At the start of the meeting, Charles turned the floor over to Mr. Morris so that he could leave after he was finished. Mr. Morris told us about what, when, how, and why FEMA does in an emergency situation. Each member was handed literature to take home with them. Mr. Morris also talked about various Storm Shelter designs that can be stand alone or incorporated in a new or existing house. These shelters start at around $2500.00 and go up. He gave us some pointers on essential items to have in the shelter and other items to have just around in the house. Thanks from the club for coming and sharing your knowledge with us.

The February minutes were read and accepted as read.

Our next topic was Field Day:

Richard Anderson was voted again as our 2008 Field Day Coordinator. Thanks for all your hard work last year, and the others that contributed to the effort. We discussed most all the particulars. We decided that we would run 4F- EOC, 100-150 watts. We will be using generators and batteries. We also need Man Power to man the radio stations. If you are planning on being for any length of time please get with Richard or one of the officers and tell them what times you can work. This will help keep a station from be manned by one or two people, or not manned at all. We are planning on having the network up for this year. If it comes together we will have a training session prior to Field Day to familiarize anyone that needs it with the procedures. Remember we need to ground our equipment during this time and at all times.

Next:

Jeff spoke on his trip to Norman, Ok. – Storm Prediction Center. They put on a 3 day class for storm spotters. It is always the first week in March. Jeff said it was a very good class and he would recommend the class to anyone that could go.

Charles asked me to talk about an antenna project that I have been working on. It was a Satellite Antenna - home brew. This antenna was in the Jan issue of QST. Anyone that is interested in building one, I have the dimensions for the 137 MHz version.

Our donation cap was passed around and $43.00 was taken up, and brings our balance up to $428.61.

We had two door prizes this month. The winners were Vollie – Field Day Tool Kit, and Toni – DVD on Severe Weather from SPC donated by Jeff.

The meeting was adjourned by Vollie and seconded by Becky.
