Last month's minutes were presented by secretary, NY4N, and was approved as read.

The Club's Christmas dinner will be held at the City Lake Cafe, on Saturday 9 December at 6:30 P.M. This was the same place it was held last year. Looks like we will put down for approximately 25 members to be present, menu choices and prices will be determined Thanksgiving week when secretary NY4N, goes back to work.

Received a nice thank you card from Tom, NN5A, and Wilma, NN5YL, in regards to the plant the Club sent when Wilma's dad passed away in October.

The Dickson ARC is looking to sponsor a VE Session on 20 January, 2007 , 9 A.M. at the Renaissance Center in Dickson. Charles, KN4HL, will be in charge of set-up. Also looking to host an EMCOMM VE sessions with NA4C and NY4N as examiners. Jeff will check schedule to see if he can get off work.

The Three Rats Club from Waverly will host a VE session on 13 January 2007, at the Meriweather Lewis building in Waverly. Their test session will be held at 7 P.M. that Saturday night.

The 2006 Operation Goblin went off without a hitch, the Club activating for about three hours on Halloween night. There were a couple of possible problems derived from the exercise, so a committee of three and one alternate was formed to re-write the goals and objectives of operation Goblin. This is to make sure all participants observe and are knowledgeable of the guidelines set forth by the Police Dept. A meeting will be set up in the future.

Charles, KN4HL, advised the Club that we all should monitor a certain simplex frequency as much as possible, so to monitor for emergency transmissions, Club members needing assistance, etc. That frequency is 146.580 MHzs. All Club members are urged to monitor as much as possible.
Police departments in Dickson and Williamson Counties are hearing what appears to be a radio pirate (someone using public service frequencies without permission) in the area. This subject is calling in false calls to both agencies. Club members are working to locate the bandit by listening in on the input frequency of the fire channel he is using. Subject has been silent for the past few days.

The new 100 foot tower is up at the Police Dept. The new Diamond 2m/440 antenna has been mounted on the structure, and now, the tip of the antenna is approximately 96 feet. Also, new hard-line was put in to replace the old coax. This should help with our simplex operations from dispatch.

Applications for the new Dickson Signal Corps were passed out at the meeting. These apps had personal information so that background checks can be run. It is also required by the Federal Government that First Responders to a scene, this includes Amateur Radio Operators, have to successfully passed courses IS-100 and IS-700. The Group would like for members to take the ARRL EMCOMM Level 1 course also. Once the checks are done, the Group will become official. There will be additional meetings on this later.

A vote was taken and approved to discontinue the Net operations through the Holidays. The Net will not be held until the first Thursday of 2007, 8:30 P.M., on the 146.955 repeater.

Charles showed the Club an emergency night light he built using batteries and LEDâ™s. He advised the rechargeable batteries would last several days, and provide plenty of light when needed. A demonstration in darkness proved that the project worked well

Tom, NN5A, brought his rare left-handed Vibroplex bug (keyer) to the meeting. He described the difficulty he had getting the keyer right, but after all the work, looks like he was successful.

Tom also had some old Field Day pins for sale, if anyone needed some

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M., The treasury taking in 27 dollars, and with one expenditure, the Club has 202 dollars in the bank

Respectfully submitted,
20 November 2006
Jeff Clark, NY4N
