The
February meeting of the Dickson County Amateur Radio Club was held
on 13 February 2006, in room 216 of the Renaissance Center in
Dickson. The following members were present and accounted for:

Vice President Charles, KN4HL, opened the meeting.
The
January meeting minutes were read by Club Secretary Jeff, NY4N,
and was approved as read.
Drew
Reynolds, KI4NGR, applied for and was granted Full membership in
the Club.
The
Community Emergency Prepared Fair, sponsored by the local Dickson
County Local Emergency Planning Committee, was mentioned. The date
for this Fair was 25 February 2006, at the Dickson Fairgrounds.
Times of operation was from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Local Club,
along with the Auxiliary Communications Service, was to operate a
booth. NY4N and AF4QB was to bring their newly restored
Communications Van to the Fair. All members were urged to attend.
Also
mentions was the fact that the Memphis Hamfest had lost their
lease on their building and would not be having a Hamfest this
year. Memphis Radio was to counter with a smaller one-day event
sometime in early March. Tullahoma’s hamfest is on 18 March, and
Cave City, Kentucky was sponsoring a hamfest on 4 March.
Vollie
and Jeff were to speak to the local Explorer Post to see if they
could find any interest in Ham Radio. Explorers are young men and
woman, between the ages of 14 and 20 years, who are looking to
pursuit a career in law enforcement. The Club was to furnish
copies of the Technician Class Question pool to all that want it.
After
the change to the 147.150 MHzs repeater, both on Net night and
during severe weather, the Club has noticed a problem with the
machine. The Club summarized if the problem does not improve soon,
they may change to another frequency. Will discuss in further
detail at next meeting.
Jeff
was to secure dates with the City of Dickson on getting the
Lakeview Park one Saturday in may for the Spring Picnic, and the
Dickson Soccer Field complex for our Field Day operation. Jeff
will advise at the next meeting the status of the location.
The
last order of business was a discussion of Field Day. After many
years of QRP operation, the Club decided to upgrade to an 100 watt
class. Also looking at a 3A class. Jeff volunteered to act as
Field Day Chairman if no one else wants it. Field Day will be on
the 24-25 of June, 2006.
The
Club funds stood at 440 dollars, with an intake of 75 dollars at
the end of the meeting, some of which was to be used for printing
and copying materials for question pools. The total in the Club
funds now is 515 dollars.
