February 2005
Minutes |
Minutes of the February 14, 2005,
meeting of the DCARC. There were 14 people in attendance at the
Renaissance Center located on Highway 46. They were Landon, Vollie,
Jerry, Tom, Wilma, Steve, Alice, Jeff, Becky, Bill, Henry, Bruce,
Skip, and His wife.
Old Business: Tentative date for the Spring picnic has been set for
May 7, 2005. Landon will check on reservations before the next
meeting.
New Business: Charles Seay brought up the idea of the club becoming
incorporated. The 3 main reasons given for the club becoming
incorporated are,
(1) It's perpetual in nature which will benefit future club members.
(2) It would limit liability due to accidents which occur,
(3) It would prevent the club from being held responsible for
irresponsible decisions made by individual club members.
FIELD DAY was also discussed. Dates for FIELD DAY are June 25 & 26.
Two new ideas were brought up for consideration.
(1) Webs mission - 50 additional points &
(2) Five participants under the age of 18 - 100 additional points,
The club voted to remain in the 5A category.
Don't forget that the net continues to meet on Thursdays at 7:30 at
146.58.
For the club program, Jeff Clark (NY4N), presented a video of
different stages of development in HAMCOM 2, (our mobile unit), and
shared clips from several of the QSO parties in which we have
participated. We have been mobile in approximately 30 QSO parties in
at least 10 different states over the 7 years we have been together.
There have been times of terrible line noise and technical
difficulties, but the beautiful scenery, new friends, and experience
in working under adverse conditions have made it all worthwhile.
