January 2005 Minutes

This is the minutes of the January 10, 2005, meeting of the DCARC.  The meeting was held at the Renaissance Center  where there were ll members present.  They were Vollie, Jerry, Henry, Steve, Alice, Becky, Jeff, Charles, Ed, Toni, and Bruce.

The first thing under old business that was discussed was donations to be made to QSL.NET.  The club agreed to sent $25.00 in club funds, since they host our web site.  An additional $25.00 in private donations will be sent too. This will enter our club in a drawing for an ICOM 756pro3 (7 chances with a $50.00 donation).

The club voted to pay for an additional year on club liability insurance.

Special Events station for Old Timer's Day was withdrawn due to lack of  interest.

Discussion of the Spring Picnic was postponed until February meeting.

Change of location of the GOTA station was the only thing brought up during preliminary field day discussion.

Landon will be doing a demo of his weather station and ham radio at the Discovery School on January 13, 2005, between 8:30am and 9:00 am.

The program was given by Jerry Lewis on APRS  (Auto Position Reporting System).  He explained that 4 digi-peaters (relay - wide- echo- gate) are used by GPS software to give a person's location at any given moment.  It can also give altitude, speed, and direction of travel.  This will be a great asset in weather related activities.
