November 2004 Minutes

This is the minutes and treasure's report for the November 8, 2004, meeting of the DCARC. Vollie, Jerry, Landon, Bruce, Jeff, Becky, Alice, Steve, Tom, Wilma, Charles, Larry, and Henry were the members in attendance.

Old business was as follows: The upcoming Christmas party will be held at the Walnut Street Church of Christ building at 201 Center Ave. Dickson, TN on December 6, at 6:30pm. It will be an add-a-dish, so anyone who hasn't committed to a particular food item, please get with Vollie and let him know what you intend to bring, Most importantly, bring yourself and family for a fun time.

The Bylaws and Constitution committee could not find any major changes which needed to be made to the constitution, so a motion was made and passed that they remain as is.

Net still meets on Thursday nights. 146.580 MHzs at 7:30 P.M. Please drop in.

FCC handed down results of BPL findings and it looks as if hams will be on their own in dealing with the BPL interference. The only frequencies taken into consideration were those used by coast guard and military installations.

There are several contest coming up in recent days. ARRL SSB Sweepstakes were November 20-22, followed by the CQ WW DX Contest CW the weekend after Thanksgiving. The first weekend of December is the 160-Meter Contest, sponsored by the ARRL, followed by the 10-Meter Contest the weekend after. See NY4N for questions on any of these events.

Goblin was a great success. We covered the entire Dickson City limits with extra eyes and ears from 7:00pm until 12:00am. Thanks to everyone who participated.

KG4HDZ informed us that his PL tone has been changed to 123.0 on his repeater.

The DCARC finished lst in the 5A category during field day this year. The club also received a certificate "TURN KNOBS GET ON THE AIR HELP IN DISASTERS' presented to us by Sunnyside ARC and the TN Contest Group in recognition of contributions we have made. It was presented by Teri -N1WI.

Stan McCutchen has asked to be listed on in-active club status due to work obligations. Hopefully, he will soon be back.,

New business is as follows: Due to the death of fellow ham Henry Savage, his wife Susan is beginning a club site and repeater in his memory. Henry Savage Ham Radio Club, 145.ll repeater N4ARK is being changed to W4RFR. The web site for information is http:www.isdn.net/scottsmith/interest/HamRadio/index.html

Landon informed us of new groups being assembled to be used in emergency situations. Citizen Corp., Neighborhood Watch, Reserve deputies, and Community Emergency Response Team, Brochures will be prepared to be handed out at a future meeting.

Larry did an excellent program detailing his experiences during disaster relief expeditions. He told us that his two main objectives were food and communications. Thank you Larry for your part in being both a concerned citizen and a dedicated ham radio operator.

The meeting adjourned. Don't forget the Christmas Party will be considered our December meeting, and that we will also hold the white elephant sale, which was postponed at the fall picnic. Bring lots of items and cash. See everyone there AF4QB-Becky.
Treasurer's Report: Beginning balance $451..00 Expenditures -$25,00 for Lakeview Rental, donations for the November meeting were $21.00 leaving a balance of $447.00.
