January
The first Dickson County ARC meeting of the new year 2001 began with
objections from a couple of Club members that the new EC section was
added to the Club web page, after the Club voted not to sponsor the
EC position. After some tense discussion, fellow members N4JII,
Glen, and KN4HL, Charles; along with their wives, Paulette, KC4FMU,
and Joyce, AD4EX, decided to quit the Club. The Club later took a
vote and decided not to except their resignations, and leave them on
the Club roster. The Welcome mat is always on the front porch if any
wish to return.
Other items of business was discussed. From this meeting on, it was
decided by the Club that before any other sections (or links) be
added to the Club web page, it be voted on by the membership. This
motion passed as read.
The Club voted on and passed a motion to bring back the Club to ARES
status, and to sponsor the EC with membership dues in the ARRL on a
yearly basis. Jeff Clark, NY4N, and new EC for the County of
Dickson, advised he would not use Club funds for his membership in
the ARRL. ARES status means the Club is NOT affiliated in the ARRL,
but in the ARES program itself. Basically, if the Club members are
needed in communication crisis not dealt with by the Dickson County
Emergency Management Agency, or maybe a need may arise out of the
County, the Club members will be notified that the Club's ARES plan
will be put into effect.
The Club voted and passed a motion that major decisions that need to
be put up for a vote by the Club be published on the Web page at
least 30 days in advance, to give members time to study the
proposals and make up their minds, maybe even do research in the
matter.
In staying with the last vote, Club members voted and passed a
motion that when items are put on the Web for Club consideration,
and if Club members know in advance they will not be attending the
next meeting, that they can send their votes via e-mail. All members
in good standing with the Club and on the official roster will be
able to vote via e-mail.
The Club made a motion and voted to review the present by-laws of
the Club and make additions and subtractions, if any are needed.
After input from all Club members, the finished set of by-laws will
be distributed and viewed by Club members, and voted on. If passed,
the new by-laws will take effect the first day of the next calendar
month.
The new Club call is still in limbo. Due to a mailing mistake to the
FCC by yours truly, the application for the vanity call AR4DC was
dismissed. It has been resent to the FCC, hopefully by next meeting,
it will be ours officially.
