News 2/6/01

I'd like to thank everyone who came to the SKYWARN Class last Monday evening, 5 February. With the Page Update people included, there were 31 at the Class, our biggest Class ever!

Several local hams were there, several fire departments were represented,
Dickson County EMA was there, along with representatives for Horizon Medical
Center. Like always, Jerry Orchanian put on a great class. This makes about
the 12th class I have attended, and still learn something new from each one.
Also, the 4Warn, Page Update Van was there with its Mobile Weather Service
capabilities, it was a blast to view and to hear war stories from the
operators. Remember, the Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week starts
next week, I believe, so put fresh batteries in your NOAA Weather Radio
and get ready for the most likely time for Severe Weather in our area,
March, April, and May.

Thanks again for attending, and thanks goes to Steve Manley and staff at
the Dickson County Emergency Management Agency for making the arrangements
for the Tennsco Bldg., very nice place to have a class.
