The memory scanner

If you read about the memory functions in chapter 2, you already know how to use, create, edit and delete memories. In this chapter you'll learn about new possibilities to work with these memories.

You can reach the following window by using the button "MEM SCAN" from the root program window (please refer to picture 1.1).

(picture 1.1 - memory scanner configuration)

Picture 1.1 shows to you the possibilities to configure the memory scanner. You are able to activate single or multiple memory banks for a later scanning. As showed in the example above, only the memory banks for 2m and 70cm are activated. A scan with this configuration will spare the life of your relais type devices in your FT-847 transceiver.

If you activate additional HF-memory banks, a scanning will then produce a rapid clicking of these relais type devices inside your transceiver. It is recommended to avoid those settings for a longer life of these devices in your transceiver. Of course you are able to scan all memory banks at the same time.

There are some buttons available, where you can switch on predefined memory banks. The button "check VHF" will activate the two VHF memory banks, the button "check UHF" will activate the two UHF memory banks, while the button "check HF" activates all the short wave memory banks. If you want to deactivate all the memory bank entry's, simply use the button "uncheck".

Before you are going to scan, you can define some additional features. If you are turning on the checkbox "stop when PTT active", the scanner will stop, when the transceiver is transmitting, maybe because of pushing the microphone.

The checkbox "stop when signal found" will stop the scanning, as soon as a signal is found which opens the squelch.

The checkbox "auto resume" and the combo box which belongs to this checkbox, will automatically resume the scan after a signal was found and after your choosen delay.

The checkbox "busy delay" and the combo box which belongs to this checkbox, will delay the scanning after a signal drops, for the choosen time.

The checkbox "norm delay" and the combo box which belongs to this checkbox, will generally delay for the choosen time between the scanned channels.

With activating the checkbox "activate listview", you are able to watch the scanned entry's in the memory bank listwindows at the bottom of the root program window. This feature slows down the scanning, but is a neat eyecatcher.

You can start the scanning by using the button "scan". The button "resume" will resume the scanning when the scanner halts within a found signal.

The button "stop" will end the scanning, while the button "close" will close the scanning window.
