Installing problems II

The SuperControl CAT software has been designed to run under various versions of Microsoft Windows 32-bit systems. Therefore also a special multilingual setup-routine was created to make sure, that the software can be installed to all the different setup's.

Under some circumstances it is possible, that the setup-routine will not work in the pronounced way. This behavior is very rare and the solution for this malfunction may differ from computer to computer.

Here are some hotline reports and the possible solution:

Question:

I downloaded SuperControl ok but when it is time to install it, I get an error message about upgrading the OLE and am told to reboot the PC. I do that but get as far as the OLE error message and am told to reboot again and again .....

Answer 1:

Internet download: Please first take a look to the filesize of each file of the full installation package, as sometimes the download itself has not been completed on one or  more files and therefore a file is corrupt. The setup-routine can only go up to the currupted file and not further. Please ask our hotline for the actual filesizes, because they can change from time to time. Please download the corrupted file again to solve this problem.

Answer 2:

Under some circumstances it could be, that another program will have a hand on a file and therefore it can not be copied at this time. Please quit all your running programs in the background. Please also have a look to your Windows taskmanager for running background tasks (Firewall ? Antivirus protection software ?).

Answer 3:

Another possibility is, that the system will have a hand on several .dll and .ocx system-files while you want to install the package. So every time when you install the package, a message will appear, telling you that some files are in use and you must reboot to change this file. Unfortuneately in some cases only one file will be changed at the same time. In the next run of the setup there is maybe another file which will cause a new messagebox to appear with the same message, but with another file causing the error. Please try to reboot as often as the system wishes to reboot. Maybe you can also see in the small textbox which files are to be installed at the time when the messagebox appear, so you can prove, that allways another file has been processed at that time.

Answer 4:

We had a problem one time with a system where we had to delete the error causing .dll or .ocx by hand, but in this case we must surely know the name of the file which caused the error. Please have a look to the textbox in the installing routine window, as you can see there, what files are to be installed. The next step is to locate the file in the windows/system drawer and delete it by hand. Please reboot your system and try to install SuperControl once again.
