Today, astronauts Don Pettit and Ken Bowersox will spend 6.5 hours walking in space outside the ISS. Their task: routine maintenance and construction of the growing space station. In this story, Pettit describes the slow and meticulous preparations that come before any space walk. "In sci-fi movies, astronauts can quickly don their spacesuits. In short order they're out the door and into the vacuum of space. They always seem to be in a hurry to chase bad guys or alien monsters. But if we were chasing bad guys, I am afraid they would be well into hyperspace by now." FULL STORY: http://science.nasa.gov/ppod/y2003/08apr_spacewalk.htm Home page: http://science.nasa.gov
