40 Jahre Sputnik

Vor 40 Jahren sendete der kleine Satellit SPUTNIK als erstes Objekt vom Weltraum aus Morsezeichen. An dieses Ereignis wurde am 2.11.97 erinnert und ein kleiner Nachbau per HAND von der Raumstation aus ausgesetzt.
Dieser Nachbau von der Größe eines Fußballs sendet auf der Frequenz 145.820+- seine Pipssignale zur Erde. Man braucht keine grossen Antennen, es reicht ein Handfunkgerät aus. Die Umlaufzeiten bekommt man mit Hilfe eines Programms und den Keplerdaten dazu.
Leider ist der dieser Minisatellit am 29.12.97 gegen 1330 UTC über Europa in der Athmossphäre verglüht. Die Batterien hielten länger als erwartet und war bis zum Ende noch gut zu hören.

Sputnik RS-17/1 QSL cards
MAREX RV3DR said, they have received over 350 QSL cards from the November/December RS-17/1 Sputnik Mission. They will be sending out the special Sputnik QSL cards in the April/May time frame.

Awards for RS-17

Around the 10.4.98 the awards were send to the HAMs. The award was shipped with some informations about the island Reunion south east of Paris, but 7000 miles away ;-).

 

Sputnik RS-17/2 A new version.
Did you know there was a Sputnk-2 on Mir? The RS-17/2 Mission is tentatively scheduled to fly around the end of the year (1998). The existing Mir satellite has the same functionality as the one which was flown last winter. However, it has been decided to perform an in space upgrade to the RS-17/2 satellite on Mir. The crew will replace the Battery and the control boards and install a new system with Voice Announcements. The new system will play pre recorded messages in French, Russian and English. I do not have any more details at this time.
