Der verkleinerte Sputnik-Nachbau wurde offensichtlich gestern

aus der MIR-Station ausgesetzt und eingeschaltet.. Es liegen

inzwischen mehrere Empfangsberichte vor.

Dazu auch noch folgende Info von AMSAT-Frankreich.

----

AMSAT France received the following information from Nathalie in Moscow.

The official scheduled time for project SPOUTNIK microsat to be "launched" is:

November 3, 1997 (hours are MOSCOW local time):

* 04H30: Pavel Vinogradov will perform an EVA out of the Mir station with

         the PS2 microsat

* 04H50: schedule time for the manual "launch" of the microsat, to be

catched in video by Anatoliy Solovyev

* 11H30: official rendez-vous at TSOUP (Mir control center)

         at Korolyev.

* 12H05: the EVA and the launch video movie is to be retransmitted on big

         screens in the control center.

SPOUTNIK should be listened to on 145,820 Mhz (most probably) or 145,841

Mhz frequency. Two microsats are aboard Mir and it is not yet known which

one will be actually launched!

Hi everybody,

this morning at the orbit arround 06:30 UTC over Europe I

could receive good signals coming down from the small

Sputnik model which was priorly "hand launched" from

the MIR spacestation.

I received it with a FT-50 handheld transceiver with the

original "rubber duck" antenna......no problem !!!

The launch was also retransmitted by video to the control centre

"TsUP" in Kaliningrad near Moscow at the same time (06:30 UTC) via

the russian geostationary satellite ALTAIR-2 on 16 degrees West on

the usual frequency arround 10,830 GHz RHCP polarisation.

(SECAM video and 500kHz SSB audio subcarrier)

In the video transmission you could see the outside view through one of

MIRs "windows" and you could see that the small Sputnik was tumbling,

because of the missing spacecraft stabilisation. Although signals where

not very much influenced by the tumbling satellite.

(at least during the observation this morning)
