Subj: MIREX Team, from the President. I would like to thank the members of the MIREX team for their HARD work over the last 3-4 weeks in getting the "PMS" working. Miles for his work with Kantronics in the procurement of the KPC-9612. The MIREX team has shown that working together CAN make a differance in the way things get done. As we all know it is hard to please everyone. I have gotten several reports about MIR's DIGI and I should turn it off. I would "HOPE" that ALL hams can see what problems can be caused by trying to digi to someone, thus making it VERY hard for the person connect to the PBBS to upload info. I would hope that all of us will NOT forget that first time "we" got a connect to R0MIR-1 [ PBS{ NOT A BBS} ],the thrill it was, so lets help out "that" first time ham by not digi'ing, so he/she my experience that same feeling. The MIREX Team hopes in the near future to be able to run an APRS test for 2 orbits. As some of you have noticed, there is a Beacon on MIR now. 01-Mar-98 12:46:33 R0MIR*>GPS : !3822.00N/12038.00WSPHG5190/A=999999/Hello from Mir Space Station This beacon is to help out with letting school kids see MIR passes on their computers - Tnx goes to Scott WA6LIE for getting the right string going, and helping out with the KAM "params". The hams and school kids that copy this beacon will see it as the Shuttle. The MIREX team will be working with Robert, WB4APR to see if there can be a software fix to show MIR. I am in contact with him on E-M now, and let's hope in the near future there can be a patch for this. I would like to thank EVERYONE that helped in getting the new KPC-9612 on MIR. There was a LOT of team effort that went into doing this. I would also like to Thank ALL the hams that had to wait while the new TNC was brought on line. With anything that is new it takes a few weeks to get used to the new CMDS. Take it from me - its been a REAL learning experience! Last BUT not "Least",it is the MIR crews that over the last 7 yrs that have given of their time. GREAT JOB !!! ENJOY Dr Dave Larsen MIREX President N6CO
