That`s me :
One day in 1952 I met Julian -SP3PL- and was, so to say,
immediately "contaminated" by the Radio Frequency Virus.
Slowly, I learned that "di-da-da-da" means the letter j,
da-da-da the letter o and da-di-da-da stays for the letter y.
At last, after some hard learning I was able to complete my first qso
as SP3UZ with some joyful    da-da-di-di-dit     di-di-di-da-da.

At that time it was not possible to buy any professional equipment.
It was the time of adaptations of military surplus
and making some "tubes monsters" which got the name
"my home brew station is a double heterodyne etc".

As all young people do, I got married, moved to another town
and got a new call SP1UZ. For a long while I was only more like
a guest on the bands. I had followed the evolution of diverse
equipment but was without chance to buy any of them.

It was a hard time but I had a lot of luck because I met many
hams who helped me. It is not possible to make a list of all of
them but I think that three of them surely deserve to be mentioned,
as, in some way, they helped me make of myself what I am today.

They are silent keys now but I´ll never forgot them:

          G3MOW - Wally
            DJ8RR   - Karl
            DL7OW  - Fred

Now as a DF8WZ I think I am realizing everything we discussed
together during the long night hours.

As hams we have the possibility to enjoy the short waves in different ways.
We can take party in several contests, we can hunt for awards,
we can look for dx-stations only and so on, so on.

In my opinion, communication means conversation and conversation helps
to win friends all over the world. For my stay on the bands I made a motto
for myself. I learned it from W0IUB that amateur radio communication helps people in all countries to live together in peace and understanding.

I hope that the next qso I'll run with you will be just like this.
So long.
