DF5RF doing

My K2
Test equipment
I started low power rigs with an TRC-2B
in the 90ties, it's a 160m/80m 10W transceiver, made of a receiver kit
called AFE-12, made by RFT.
Later, I bought a MFJ-9020 20mtrs CW
trx, output 4.5W. I took it with me to Peru, and worked as OA4/DL6UEG in
1996.
I experimented with the Pixie a bit,
extended it to 4 crsytals and was able to make 1 QSO. Well, it's all right
to get
some practice - but I'm also a keen operator so I looked out for a "real"
radio.
My next rig I bought is a TS-50 (with
500Hz CW filter) mobile trx, which I modified for 5W. It works great, and
compared to
the price it's the best HF radio you (still!) can get in the lower price
segment.( I paid ~ DM 1350,- for the basic TS-50, that was 1999
at Difona
)
Now, I'm a proud builder and owner of the
Elecraft
K2-transceiver # 2328.
