Digital Communications and Packet

There is  interest in the area about Digital modes, and as you can see from some of the information in the links, participating does NOT need to mean using HF. There is a lot going on via VHF. Best of all, it can be done very inexpensively. Digital modes allow more info to be sent precisely versus voice, and could be an ideal way to transfer lists, files and documents if other means of communications fail.

There are many sources for free software and inexpensive hardware - PLUS, easy directions to "home brew" a solution. Here are a few - check it out! Thanks to Mike Watson, W5UC, for leading the discussion.
