137 kHz WSPR beacon
In
April 2009 i built a linear transverter for 137KHz based on the suggestions
from Dave (AA1A) and Gus (SM6BHZ) which allow to run all digital modes.
The
design is very simple. Heart is a mixer with inputs from my transceiver and
from an oscillator (a cheap 10MHz Quarzoszillator from an electronic shop will
do)
now (Jan.2011) all parts (Mixer, 10MHz
GPSO, Driver PA, 250W PA) installed in an old PC tower:
In
my first test i used a “ready-to-go” mixer module from Anzac MD-141. A 10.137MHz
signal from my transceiver is mixed with a 10MHz LO signal to a 0db (1mW)
137KHz signal followed by a low pass filter and a 5W amplifier (TDA-2003). I
not changed anything on my FT-857. I burn down the 5W on 10MHz with a 30db
attenuator to 5mW.
On
23.Apr.2009 i run this low power setup as WSPR beacon on 136.280KHz dial
frequency and received from Michael in JN49bf following signal report J (many thanks for this)

This proves the transverter concept. It allows easily to build a transverter for
500Khz once we have permissions for this band in
5.+6.March 2010 I added my 250W Mosfet and did some more
WPSR Tests on 137KHz (dial 135.5KHz). I got about 100W out –> with my
antenna setup that’s abt. 2mW ERP.

afterwards I did some transmission test in DFCW and
