Hello
everyone,
I have a few items to bring you up-to-date on.
First, the Net had 850 check-ins for the month of January. I
guess it's fair to say the Net is experiencing some growth.
As a NCS, we accept some responsibilities. Part of the duties
include some administrative paperwork which includes keeping
records of the check-ins for your net and passing those numbers
to me. I am required to file a Net report each month to Al Hall,
WB7RAB. I ask that each of you pass this report in ARRL message
form FOLLOWING your net. Since we are an ARRL ARES Net, it's a
real good idea to lead by example. If I'm not available, please
hold the traffic until the next net in which I check-in.
Recently, someone asked about checking in with a handheld, and if
it is considered alternate/battery or emergency power? No, unless
they are connected to an automotive or gel-cell battery or
generator. Just the handheld by itself and its battery pack is
not considered to be on emergency power. Please keep this in mind
when counting those check-ins.
In closing, I wish to welcome Paul Templin, KD7NBJ, as the new
NCS for Tuesday. Paul has been an alternate for several months
and has been an asset to the D4 Net. Thanks Paul for accepting
the full-time position. Before I forget it, for those of you
keeping track of names and calls for new check-ins, please pass
those to me in your net report so I can keep the roster updated.
I will email the new information on a daily basis to everyone.
Thanks very much for your continued support and dedication to
emergency communications. I am always open to new ideas and
strategies for the net. Your input will be appreciated. Don't
forget to attend the Rickreall Ham Fest on the 16th. I look
forward to seeing you there.
See you on the net.
73,
David, N7DRM
