About
us, a little history...
The C.R.A.M. was founded on 20 June 1959, after which
for several years, a group of hams from the area
Sayago met in the "Wheel of the Pumas. At first
it was called Radio Club Sayago, but supporters
living in other neighborhoods suggested that the name
was very parochial. It was then decided to call it
Radio Club Montevideo, finding the problem that
existed since the beginning of the century, another
club with that name, but composed of broadcasters,
those who no longer held any meeting or activity, but
they were registered, so we decided to the "Centro
de Radio Aficionados Montevideo".
From an early stage and according to its statutes,
this institution was linked to the work of national
and international amateur radio, and maintained
friendly ties with similar institutions in our
country and neighboring countries, being first member
of the Uruguayan Federation of Radio Clubs and then,
independently, as radio club authorized by the DNC (official
bureau of communications), strong supporter of the
principles and essence of ham radio.
Its highest authority is the General Assembly, which
consists of active partners meets annually to approve
or disapprove the action taken by the Steering
Committee, which consists of 9 members and 9
alternate members, plus the 6 members of the Tax
Commission .
Its registered office is at 1966 Cno. Ariel 4733, and
in the sample has an extensive technical library,
receiving specialized publications usually for a
hobby, and published abroad, in addition with two
computers that allow digital reading disks and
internet access.
In terms of radio transceiver has a TS430S, a 1kW
linear amplifier, a VHF IC2000H, a TS520, which
together with a G5RV antenna and an antenna tuner,
has a proud and which was donated by Don Louis Varney
G5RV in person (Louis Varney had a station in Rocha,
CX5RV, and was married to a Uruguayan).
It also has a modem AEA, two VHF repeaters (146,610
and 146,640 kHz), the latter, located in Verdun in
Hill Lavalleja department and one in 432,600 Khz UHF.
All, like the first 6-meter beacon on 50,020 Uruguay,
are home-built.
For radiant systems, the club has a monoband 4
element antenna for 10 meters, a monoband of 3
elements for 20m, dipoles for 40, 17 and 12 meters, a
vertical for 2 meters, others in a 10-directional
elements to this band and 6 elements for 6 meters.
UHF has a 4-element collinear.
In recent years the focus of partners and managers is
trying to be as current as possible the station and
its accessories, for the benefit of all. It is the
intention to try to participate in world events such
as radio club and get trophies and diplomas as DXCC,
WAZ, etc.., Common purpose, trying to make the
official station is on all bands and modes as
possible.
Regarding the performance of associated
administrative procedures are performed at the DNC,
organize teams to purchase shares of radio, we have
sent QSL via bureau, and use the box 6000 for
receiving the same .
At our headquarters, usually provide technical
preparatory talks for licensing examinations or for
the amateur category promotion, and conferences such
records or information on experiences of
distinguished colleagues, for which it has a lounge
suitable for meetings, board and video set.
