The next CMRA meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 12th, 1997, at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room of Boone Electric Co-op. A VE exam session will follow the meeting ( provided there are three VE's on hand and any takers.)
Be sure to attend if possible, as this will be the last meeting before the Hamfest, and we need to
get a head count of Volun-teers for the various tasks de jour and go over any last minute plans.
More on the hamfest in a bit.
The Club is planning on holding Novice/ Tech classes, starting in the Fall. If you would like to
help, contact me, WY0B. We'll be getting the Instructor's Package from the ARRL, and it has
been very helpful with past classes. It's a much easier task when you can break the information
down into lots of short sections.
The Club has a new Home Page on the Web. I lost my notes, but I believe the URL is:
http://www.qsl.net/cmra .
The July Breakfast was one of the best attended so far, with about twenty hungry folks showing
up. There was another party also seated in the rear room, so at first glance, it looked like lots of
new faces Hi. Mark your calendar now to attend this month's breakfast, which will be held
Saturday, August 30th at Country Kitchens at 8:00 a.m. This will be great way to start Labor Day
Weekend if you're planning on staying in town. Remember, the breakfasts aren't just for hams, all
are welcome and encouraged to attend.
As mentioned in previous issues, we have an official date and place set up. The 1997 CMRA Hamfest will be held on September 6, 1997 between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.. It will be held at Good Time Country on Highway 163, which is just South of Columbia. We will be able to get the doors open for vendors about 9:00 p.m. the Friday evening before the event to allow vendors to set up early. The Flea Market area will be indoors (as well as the commer- cial area). Pass the word. Also, all the paper work has been handled, and our Hamfest is officially sanctioned by the ARRL. Mark the date on your Calendar.
The Hamfest Committee got together again at the Club Station Monday, August 4th, and
hammered out some more details for this year. We now have a budget to work with, and came up
with some nice prizes. We are planning on a Yaesu FT50RD dual band HT, a Kantronics TNC,
and a Garmen GPS unit. ( I'm already looking forward to the raffle <grin>.)
