The 2000 CMRA Hamfest / Arrl Mo. Section Convention

Minutes From the March Meeting

Meeting opened at 7pm Introductions all around Minutes of the last meeting read.

Dale Bagley K0KY, Section Manager spoke to the club concerning the CMRA Hamfest. He is wanting our Hamfest to be a big success and so should we.

We must put a lot of effort into having the best Hamfest ever. He is willing to get a speaker while having the Missouri Section Convention at our Hamfest which should give us more advertising

The Hamfest is set for August 26, 2000 at the National Guard Armory. The Armory is approx. Three miles north of I-70 on HWY. 63. The site was voted on by the members at the club meeting. We are going to furnish the food and drink so we will need help there. We will also need to furnish about 30 tables and a P.A .system. If anyone can help please call WM0H.

We will be voting on a DUES increase at the next meetings in April so be there to give your opinion.( See note on it later in the newsletter)

Discussed forming a committee to explore the possibility for getting grant/funds for the club

Timely Publicity for the Hobby!
By John W. Smith, call sign pending

If you're not a subscriber to "American Survival Guide" magazine, pick up the May 2000 issue off the news stand or check it out at the library. Inside is a pleasant surprise... an article entitled " Ham Radio Gets Easier "
by J. Lincoln Thorner, on pages 72-73, 86-89. This 6- page spread includes several photos from ARRL
Publications and a chart of the U.S. band plans. The article discusses the new license restructuring and privileges, with a good summary of previous structure and changes over the years. As a new Ham, I found it quite informative. All in all this article appears to be a timely boost for our beloved hobby.

VE CORNER

Testing after the meeting gave Amateur Radio Two Extra class hams (yes they also took the 20wpm.) One ham took and passed the Extra class written.
One also took and passed the General class written. There are only about three more testing
sessions before the restructuring takes place so will be looking for many more people taking test. We appreciate all the people working hard to make the
CMRA the kind of club we can all be proud of.
