August Meeting Minutes

The meeting began at 7:00 PM. Introductions went all around.

Savings: n/a

Checking: $950.00

Old Business: Dave (KVØS) is still working on getting together WAMOC (Worked All Missouri Counties),
and he’ll have a proposal for the club at the September meeting.

New Business: Don (NØUBC) is selling customizable name/callsign pins. They’re only $1.65, and you can
contact Don for more info.

A question was brought up as to whether the ham club auction each July is open for just hams or all people.
After a little discussion the club voted to keep it open for all people. The only stipulation is that anyone who’s
not a ham cannot buy a radio with transmitting capabilities.

Another discussion came up about the club papers at the Secretary of State’s office. The club president

said that to help with insurance and protect the club assets & officers, the club should reincorporate with the
Secretary of State. The president had already filled out the necessary paperwork, so all that was necessary was
for the club to pay $180 to file the papers. After some discussion, the club voted to pay the amount and file the
papers (one member voted negative).

It was brought up that several of our annual papers (ARRL club listing, corporation papers) had not been dealt
with for some time. The club talked about this for awhile, and their decision was to let the Executive Committee
put together a steering committee (current & past presidents or something of that nature) to take care of all the
annual business. This would ensure that the needed functions and paperwork get taken care of, and that no lapse
occurs because of new officers or other things. The Executive Committee will come back with a decision at the
September club meeting.

The MS-150 is fast approaching, and several volunteers are still needed. The training session for MS-150 will
be August 15th at 7 PM from Job Point. If you’d like to sign up to be a volunteer for the MS-150, please contact
Don Moore or go to http://www.ares-mo.com/ms150.htm .

Daniel started his talk on the hamfest, and he said that the hamfesters.com embroiderers wouldn’t be able to
make it because of high gas prices. Then he talked about door prizes, how many tables would be needed, and
other things. He said that 6 people were coming to take their Tech tests, so VEs would be needed for that. And
he said volunteers were needed for parking and such, and that anyone who would be willing could come and
help out. Setup for hamfest starts Friday night (the 18th) after 9:30, and people should start arriving to help
around 6 AM on Saturday.

After the hamfest discussion, the meeting ended and was adjourned at 8:11 PM.

I hope to see everyone at the next meeting!
Until then 73’s,
Nathan KCØLCS

CMRA 2006 Hamfest

Here are a few thoughts from our 2006 Hamfest Chairman, Daniel, KC0UTW:

We had 7 indoor vendors for our Hamfest this year and
we had 3 outside vendors.

The attendance was down a bit this
year. We had 136 people come through the door.

I talked to our vendors while we were cleaning up Saturday and they all
seemed happy with the amount of business they did. Doug from Memphis Amateur Electronics said he will be back
next year for sure.

The people that filled out a survey for the most part they rated the
Hamfest a success.

I would like to thank each one of
our club members that helped on
Friday and on Saturday
to get everything set-up and taken down. Their efforts were greatly
appreciated by me.

We can't forget the people forget the people feeding us breakfast and lunch. Thank you Bonnie, Melinda, and Sue for all
your hard work on the Club's behalf.

I enjoyed being the Chairman for
our Hamfest this year. It was a lot of fun.

Respectfully yours,
Daniel Johnson
KC0UTW

73,

Well, that about wraps up this edition. If you would like to suggest any topic to be looked into and reported upon in the
Squelch Tail, please let me know. Keep in mind that this is OUR Newsletter, this is OUR Club, and this is OUR Hobby.
We should all do what we can to improve all three!
