Old Business: Bob Jett showed off his vests again for the club. The club, as said before, has voted to purchase 6 of these vests for club use.
The location for Field Day has not been committed to yet. The people at Rock Bridge State Park couldnt commit to anything, though they said the area hasnt been reserved yet. Well have an update on Field Day at the next meeting.
Theres still no one to put up the tower sidearm yet. The man who was supposed to do it had to decline because of poor health. A ground crew will be needed to help with the sidearm shortly after the Dayton hamfest, so anyone wanting to help can contact Don (KMØR).
The March of Dimes Walkathon went fine. There were about 9 hams who showed up to assist the operations.
Don gave an update on the APRS trackers mentioned at the March meeting. He said it wouldnt be too expensive for the trackers but an antenna, radio, and other pieces of equipment would be needed. This issue was tabled until the next meeting.
New Business: The ARRL approved a state convention for the Columbia hamfest this year. The ARRL state director also approved it.
There is room for at least one more forum at the hamfest this year. VE testing, a repeater council, and a MARS forum have been slotted so far. Anyone having suggestions can contact Bob Clinton, WØBUX.
The ham club voted that $550 should be used for hamfest prizes. A dual band HT and dual band mobile will be bought.
Volunteers will be needed for the hamfest this year, on August 19th & 20th. There will be setup on the 19th, and the actual event on the 20th. Any help will be appreciated.
A new member has been added to our club, pending dues. His name is Arthur Despins, and his callsign is KCØTXX. Be sure to give him congratulations next time you hear him on the air or see him.
Dale (AEØS) has some old radio tubes. They are for Collins radios and before. Anyone interested in getting these items can contact Dale.
Mac (K4CHS) has donated a canvas tent and some old ham radio magazines for the clubs use. The canvas tent will be used for Field Day. The magazines will be stored at the club station.
Announcements: There are many activities going on in the next few months, so this section will be dedicated to those activities.
There will be the Missouri Special Olympics on May 25th-27th. The club could possibly help with communications. Since it is coming up so soon, chances are there wont be any help needed. Someone might go there to observe the event and see if any help is needed, so we can maybe help out next year.
Help will be needed for the Columbia Cup bike race on July 2nd. Eight or nine stations will be needed in the event. Dave (KCØSVH) will provide more info next month.
The MS-150 is coming up on September 10th & 11th. Communications will be needed on the 10th & 11th, and possible help with setup on the 9th.
A Pedal to the Medal bicycle race will occur in October, to help raise money for Special Olympics. As we get closer to October, more details will be provided. Communications help will be needed for this event.
For anyone interested in aviation, an aviation club meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Daniel Boone Regional Library on the 1st floor. Anyone is welcome to attend.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:21 PM. No program was held.
