SQUELCH TALE

Central Missouri Radio Association KØSI 146.76(-) PL 127.3 August 2005

Please attend this month’s meeting of the CMRA to get details of the upcoming hamfest. Volunteers are always needed for set-up and clean-up afterwards.

NOTE! The hamfest will occur before the next meeting, and before another newsletter is mailed.

Minutes:

Minutes For July 2005 Meeting

Meeting opened at 7:02 PM. Introductions all around. The minutes were read and changed (the club voted to use $594.50 of the club funds for vests; also, Daniel's callsign is KCØUTW, not KCØUTM), and then were approved.

Savings: $2,227.60

Checking: $1,782.40

Old Business: The sidearm for the tower was finally installed, on June 16th. Some inside work on

the tower is necessary, and also some spools need to be taken away.

Eight or nine vests have come in for the club members, however the rest of the vests have been on

back-order. They will all be available at the next club meeting.

The auctioneer (Brent Voorheis) thanked the club for sending flowers after his mother passed away.

Field Day was a success. We had over 1,000 points total. We got points for contacts as well as for

operating an emergency power station, sending a message to the Missouri Section Manager, receiving

the W1AW bulletin, being at a public location, having children make contacts on the radio, and being

written about in a media article. It wasn't a club record by any means, but it was fun. Thanks to John (N0EG) for putting Field Day together.

New Business: QuikCards will not be at the hamfest. As of yet, there are no confirmed business for

Columbia's hamfest. Associated Radio and a local business (Professional Computers) have been contacted

about the hamfest, but as of yet there is no reply.

A possible location for next year's hamfest will be checked into. One that was brought up was the

Knights of Columbus building on Route E. It would be necessary to secure the location early, to make

sure that the club is able to use it. The club voted to postpone any decisions on that location until

after August, although we will check out the prices.

A possible hamfest joint-hook up with Jefferson City's club was brought up. The club voted to contact the

Jefferson City club and see what they'd say about that. A joint hamfest might be possible for next year.

We will find out the results of the contact next month.

Tom (AA0PO) will not be holding code practice until January 1st. He will run practice from Jan. 1

until Easter.

Two new members have been voted into the club, pending dues. They are Daniel, KCØUTW, and J.W., KCØUNZ. Congratulations to them for joining.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 PM, after which time the club members traveled to the Job Point building for the club auction. The auction lasted approximately 1 1/2 hours. The club has raised a total of

$830.00 through this year's auction. It all went very well, and there were some really good deals. Thanks to Mrs. Smith and the other people who helped put it together.

Hope to see everyone at the next meeting.

Until then 73's,

Nathan KCØLCS
