SKYWARN Frequencies for Chaves County

If Skywarn is activated, we will use the Caprock repeater on 147.18+ MHz (no tone) for Skywarn communication.  There will normally be a controlled net with a designated NCS.  Chaves County Skywarn volunteers should monitor this frequency when the possibility of severe weather exists.

If the Caprock repeater is inoperative, we will use 145.25- MHz (141.3 Hz tone).  This Caudill Ranch repeater (also on the Caprock) does not have as good mobile coverage as the one-eight Caprock repeater, but has better coverage than some of the other area repeaters.

W5ALL and/or K9TVS will pass consolidated reports to Albuquerque NWS (WX5ABQ) by the MegaLink system, or by telephone.

Since the MegaLink system must serve as the NWS Albuquerque (WX5ABQ) link to all of New Mexico during storm conditions, and is an “always-linked” system, its’ use should be restricted to consolidated reports unless an emergency exists where the MegaLink is the best means of quick communication.

The MegaLink frequency for Roswell is 147.26 MHz (100 Hz tone). Maljamar is 147.14 MHz (67 Hz tone).

For liaison with Eddy County, we can use the Artesia W5COW repeater on 444.975 MHz (156.7 Hz tone)

For liaison with far southeastern New Mexico and West Texas, we might need to use the West Texas Connection (WTC) repeater system.  The Maljamar WTC frequency is 442.075 MHz (162.2 Hz tone) and the Dark Canyon frequency is
147.120 MHz (88.5 Hz tone).

All of the above repeaters use a standard offset.
