Brief history of CCARS

CCARS was first conceived in 1992 by a few 'old timers'. They mail out invitations to Chinese Hams in the greater Toronto area. The first formal get together was at a restaurant near Victoria Park near Steeles.

CCARS was officially launched on January 1, 1993. The general membership elected a Board of Directors and the Board appointed 4 Executive Officers. In addition, the CCARS Board of Directors wrote a formal letter to the Federal Department of Communications (Industry Canada) to nominate a candidate to be the club's Volunteer Examiner.

The executives organized meeting of the general membership every month except July and August. Since January/93, CCARS had to cancel only one regular monthly meeting because of a severe snow storm. Regular CCARS annual events include Chinese New Year banquet, Field day/BBQ/picnic, 2 way radio communication service for community annual charity fun runs, and Christmas party.
