Training
There are five levels of training and cetification within Cumberland County ARES/RACES/CERT. These are:
Trainee: New membership in ARES. No formal training in Emergency Communications
Responder: Regular ARES Responder
Leadership: AEC, OES, Group Supervisor or Team Leader
Management: EC or DEC
Senior Management: SEC or ASEC
Trainee - Has an amateur radio license, has a sincere desire to serve the
community during times of disaster and has registered with Cumberland
County ARES/RACES/CERT.
Responder - Has completed the following courses:
Introduction To Emergency Communications
ARRL EC-001 or Maine Emergency Communications Course Level I
Maine ARES Safety Course
IS-100 (Introduction to the Incident Command System)
IS-700 (Introduction to the National Incident Management System)
This training must be completed within one year of joining ARES.
 
Leadership - Has completed the requirements for Responder level plus has
completed:
ARRL EC-002 or Maine Emergency Communications Course Level II
IS-200 (Basic Incident Command System)
Management - Has completed the requirements for the Responder and
Leadership levels, plus:
ARRL EC-003 or Maine Emergency Communications Course Level III and Maine ARES Leadership Course
ICS-300 (Intermediate Incident Command System)
IS-800 (Introduction to the National Response Framework)
 
Senior Management - Has completed the requirements for the Responder,
Leadership and Management levels, plus:
ICS-400 (Advanced Incident Command System)
All Hazards Type 3 Communications Unit Leader Course
