Club Activities and Future Events

February – Show n’ Tell night. Got a home brew project you’re proud of? A neat new (or old) amateur radio toy no one’s ever seen? Bring it to the meeting

March – Foxhunting and RDF basics night. Antennas, techniques, gadgets

April -- ?? Any suggestions from the members?

Notes from the Newletter editor

Much discussion at last month’s meeting about a location for Field day. Any one with any contacts or good suggestions?

I will unfortunately have to miss the next three meetings. I will be working with a spark gap transmitter at the Laurel Oaks Vocational School. Translation, I’m taking an advanced welding course. Since I didn’t set myself on fire in the beginning class and didn’t weld any tools to the table, they’ll let me try it again. For anyone who hasn’t checked them out, Laurel Oaks does a number of evening classes, from conversational Spanish to home electrical wiring and others of interest to hams. Oh yeah, anyone got any small welding projects to be done, let me know.

An item of discussion has been to have a swap or trade meet, either within our club or combined with other clubs. Comments?

Dayton Hamvention is only four months away. Start planning if you have anything you want to sell, or donate to the club. Hopefully we’ll have the same arrangements as last year, and the trailer and space arrangements will work out.

Upcoming Events

March 16/17 – Dayton Computerfest, Hara Arena

May 17/19 – Dayton Hamfest, Hara Arena

June 15 – Milford amateur swap meet (tentative date)

July 27 – OHKYIN amateur swap meet (tentative date)

September 22 – GCARA amateur swapmeet ( tentative date)

Look for the next newsletter in April, the start of severe weather season. If at all possible participate in the Sunday evening nets to get ready. Next newsletter we’ll take a long look at net procedures and protocols.
